Your Questions About Kids Mma Fighting

Sharon asks…

I am looking for a certain fighting movie. i just watched it last night and i cant remember the name of it.?

The movie is based on an underground MMA fighter named brandon. In the beginning he is in a fight and his brother was watching, but he bet on the guy that brandon was fighting. His brother(frankie) lost the bet because brandon won the fight. Frankie didnt have the money so he got murdured by getting his neck slit. Frankies body was found by a little boy who dropped his ball. Then brandon found out and the guy who frankie owed the money to gave brandon a week to give him the money. So brandon moves out to the middle of nowere to live with his dad. His dad was in a weelchair and as brandon was a kid, his dad made him and frankie fight eachother. Then brandon finds a job and meets this guy(i forgot his name) and he tells brandon about a fight night on a friday night. Brandon wants to fight in it to get the money. So he goes to a party and meets this girl(i forgot her name to) then her brother hits brandon and then some guy hits brandon in the back of the head with a glass bottle. Then brandon fights throughout the movie with an MMA legend that later informs brandon that he is in the witness protection program. So once brandon fights the girls brother(victor) he still doesnt have the money. So he tells his brothers killer that he will make him his money and a hole lot more in a business deal to fight. So brandon fights and wins but frankies killer sat brandon and his girlfriend in chairs and said he was going to make her suck his d**k and then he is going to shoot brandon in the head, but right when he was about to, the MMA legend busts down the door and hits the fat guard then brandon jumps up and beats frankies killer to death then the MMA legend shoots the shotgun. That is all i can remember. Please i really want to know what this movie is called. It was a really good movie and i want to buy it sometime. :)

William asks…

is taking ballet weird for a guy to take if it is for a sport?

ok heres the thing i fight MMA and i have good striking and submissions but my trainer says i need to work on my stand up and feet skills. and he says i should take ballet.

i agree that i need help with my skills but should i take ballet.

i mean im 23 and i’ll have to train with little kids ???wtf

admin answers:

What is there wrong about it? Ballet will only benefit you. I’ve seen a football player a couple years ago in HS who was said to have taken ballet. No one could catch that dude for sh!t !! He could be right in front of you and then lean away half a second before you even touch him. Apply that to your fighting skill, you will be my agile to move around better. If ballet wasn’t so expensive in my area I would consider taking it for my bboying. Good luck.

Carol asks…

why do idiots say we should ban boxing,MMA(cagefighting) and other things because they are dangerous?

Yes boxing and other comabat sports are dangerous but so what, it is our choice as humans in a free world if we choose to practice these arts. We are fighting overseas for our freedom so we can have rights yet people at home want to allow the government to take our rights.
No one should be forced to take part in combat sports but should you choose to its your choice so do it and I say that to all your kids, if you want to fight do it, its your choice, if your mum or dad tries to stop you do it anyway.
Not everyone is content reading books, we are all different, some thrive on challenging themselves physically and phsycologicaly, overcoming fears and building themselves, accepting risks and hopefully reaping the rewards. Others are more content drinking fine wine and doing all the other boring stuff they do, each to their own though.
tapestry, you say in your own rather man love man words “because harming one another is not a sport” Yes to you it is not a sport, to you male tickling contests would be great, perhaps with oil and such things, to me I like to participate in tough risky sports and get hurt and drive through it, not because I am forced to like a gladiator, but because I choose to. To you boxing probably looks like two men throwing random blows in a ghastly burst of violence, that is not true, it is an art, it is like chess if you understand it. MMA and boxing will never be banned and if you dont like it its simple, dont f***king watch it!

admin answers:

Harming one another is not sport, its just about as bad as gladitors beating and killing each other in the Coliseum, that is not entertainment.

Susan asks…

This kid is seriously tiny compared to me and wants to fight…?

So this kid is probably 5’1 and about 90 lbs. im 6’1 and 158 i lift every day and the kid wants to fight me . I train MMA and I’ve only gotten in 3 real fights in my life and I messed them kids up… Should I hit this kid for him to shut his mouth or let him hit me and just laugh??? I was thinking of just putting the kid in a armbar and making him cry like the bittch he is??? Suggestions

admin answers:

“i train in MMA” HA! Either, you are making it up, or you are stupid enough to fall for a place that claims to teach “MMA” all MMA fighters train in several different types of martial arts, MMa means mixed martial arts, so one cannot train in it, you would have to train in several, straightforward martial arts, dipshit. And that kid, if he is being the aggressor, he has what is called “little persons syndrome” [its not a medical term just a common term] little people feel the need to attack at overly lardge people, and if there aggressive then they probably know they could take you, and your gonna lose.

And you say you lift everyday? That statement either means you have never lifted, don’t know anything about lifting, or your on steroids, if you do know anything about lifting then you can give a decent argument back, if u don’t you probably wont say anything.

Laura asks…

Drunken bar fights, Nirvana, Karate Kid, and psychology?

This is my answer to a girl that asked “WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN DRUNK”. It was in the sports: martial arts section. I wrote it at 2 am in the morning when i couldn’t sleep. I was just wondering if anyone wanted to make a commet on it. My answer to her question was this. Try drunken style lol PUSH, BITE, SCRATCH and make your EXIT as soon as possible. Those things you can do when your drunk. no matter how much you get hurt or cant breath etc. Pain most of the time is just a warning, don’t worry your not gonna die. but you let yourself get caught up in a fight when you can barely stand, and they get the better of you. You never know you could end up badly injured or worse. People will hit you with a bottle over the head(which is a bloody mess) or pull a weapon, (I’ve seen it) they will use it if your beating them even thou they started the fight(low life’s). Fighting is no joke, especially if the one fighting you has no honor for them self’s or nothing. just keep moving to get away. Once you get away you can deal with the pain in your bed at your home. you can get back at them when your sober(if its worth it) which most of the time its something stupid. Fighting when your disoriented is never good, no mater if you think you can fight good when your drunk . Most will have their friends jump into it. Trust me. I use to be a bouncer. People like to take advantage of others when their drunk in many ways. Most likely already afraid of you, or jealous of you. I am 28 yrs old. New Years i got in a fight with a 40 yr old man because his 40 yr old girlfriend was talking to me(no lie ) about how to tie a tie lol how sad for him. I was drunk and had no idea he was gonna push me. when i slammed him agenst the wall his friend grabed my face from behind, so i bit on to his finger. It made him let go of my face. All the while i was trying to get my drunken butt out the door. I fight MMA but no way could I pull off any moves that drunk. Listen i didn’t start it and had no way out . These people talking crap saying grow up or whatever. They’re the ones that need to grow up. You live life some times trouble comes to you, it happens. Every one has problems whether its drinking, drugs, gambling, family, obsessing over someone that doesn’t want them, maybe they use to get beat by their drunken dad. Most have hidden issues with them self’s and that’s why they want to pick on others (bullies) insted of dealing with it them selfs. They will wait till your at a weak point. Even without fighting people will try to bully you in other ways. They’re better, harder, smarter then you etc. If that’s what they care about in life then their worthless. What about being the best they could be. Now that mind set is positive thinking. Think about it if all people did was worry about how they think they’re better then others. How would this world have ever advanced so much since the dawn of people. The ones act like that are not the ones that ever did anything great for this world. If any thing they hold others down that don’t or can’t stand up for them self’s. I think martial arts is great. its the ultimate mind and body competition I’m shure you heard of a movie called Karate Kid. What was that movie about fighting? or learning to master your mind and body. If you can learn that, then it doesn’t matter whether its an final exam or a fight you’ll be better at it. In a fight you may be very good at punching, but if your opponent knows one good hold, and can pull it off, all those moves you know go out the window. Try to understand what really matters. Be wise. If you can, just stay away from these kind of people they aren’t worth it. There are punks like them every were. You cant fight them all, or you will always be fighting. Also i see you like Nirvana, me too. No matter if you like their music you have to respect them. They didn’t just take music they know add a twist to it, that’s easy. They made their own style of music. I see bands like these rock-rap bands, they’re just a gimmick. Give me a break, what are they singing about anyways…NOTHING. Kurt had many deep thoughts in his music. I miss the early to mid 90s rock music. The reason why they ended up calling it alternative rock is because they couldn’t label it. Most bands had their own type of music. People that say 90s sucked are lame, and probably don’t have a thought of their own. I’m glad bands like Nirvana gave way for other bands that want to do their own thing. Well you sound like a chill chick from your question, and your profile. Well i hope this answered something lol

admin answers:

I did. I love drunken bar fights and I breathe Nirvana. I’m wearing my Kurt Cobain tee right now!!!

Your Questions About Kids Mma

Mandy asks…

Wrestling Vs. MMA-good or bad for youth?

My children train and compete in MMA but recently I signed them up for wrestling because I thought it would maybe help them with grappling and meet new friends and be change of scenery. They say they think it’s okay but aren’t crazy about it either. Now I wonder if it’ll set them back or waste time seeing that they are unlearning techniques because they are illegal in youth wrestling and maybe developing bad habits you wouldn’t do in a n MMA match. (like raising your chin and using your head to help push someone down while shooting) Somepeople like Brock Lesnar and Rashad Evans have used Wrestling to excel at MMA but some Muay Thai Fighters like Thiago Alves can exploit those bad wrestler habits and I’m not sure if this crosstraining is helpful or not. I want to give it a chance but it is also a more expensive sport to compete in.What’s your opinion about this question and please,no commenting on Missouri’s pro MMA stand or bashing the parents of kids who compete in full contact Karate, TKD or MMA.

admin answers:

I do Muay Thai but I wished my parents enrolled me to a wrestling school when I was still a kid. Wrestling is just fine and I hope your children succeeds and become good @$$ whoopers in the future. Just kidding. ^^

Martial Art is not just about beating people, It also includes health and other socio-worthy stuff (I wouldn’t dare to elaborate).

And if they decide to become MMA fighters someday, Wrestling is a very good background to have with. ^^

Susan asks…

WWE and Pro Wrestling getting killed by UFC and MMA?

Alot of people say that mma has taken alot away from boxing, but i think otherwise. There has been alot more to me that most mma fans were once pro wrestling fans. Back when i was in 8th grade i loved wrestling. i started wrestling in high school because of pro wrestling, but once i heard about mma fell in love with it because it was real. All im saying is that wrestling pretty much lost all its hardcore fans. When i say hardcore fans i mean the alpha males. The fans that actually workout, get into fight, and practicing martial arts. Yeah those fans are mma fans now. WWE fans are either kids, fat loser, and other weridos. Oh yeah and if you are wresting fans and think that im lying, look at yourself in mirror.
nerdy people like wwe now just face the facts mma is taking and thats all to punk ass daniel

Im trying to be an MMA fighter and have some questions?

I have always loved UFC and MMA as a kid. Im 17 now. I’m a monster at wrestling. I took karate. And i boxed for a few years. I want to know if that is a good foundation for entering MMA? I also want to know were i can sign up to fight when i turn 18? I want to succeed and make a rep but i dont know were to go? im also joining the Marines when i graduate, so that will make me stronger and i will join the USMC Wrestling team. Unfortanetly i dont think Marines are allowed to do MMA while active. So once my 4 years are up, i think ill be more then ready to fight. Were should i go? ill go anywere in the states to proove my skills.

admin answers:

I have a buddy that was a Marine. He fought and won the pankration tournament out in Cali twice. While he was in he got his Black Belt in the MCMAP as well as a blue belt in BJJ and he started Muay Thai as well. Since getting out he has become a pro fighter. You really need a gym with an instructor that knows how to get you fights. Thats the big part.

For ALL the Fedor Haters and the True MMA fans!?

I have seen many kids ( they can’t be nothing but naive kids i think) to be so bitter about Fedor and claim how Overrated he is and how Brock Lesnar ,Bob Lashley EVEN KIMBO SLICE LMAO gonna break his neck etc etc!
Only because Fedor chose not to sign with UFC and becomes Dana’s another slave huh? This is the thank you for all Fedor has done for the MMA world?I did not expect that , i mean deep inside i knew American fans waited in the corner for him , after all in your eyes he is an ex Soviet but come on now!
Ok i will not mention his belts, records, titles etc etc but i will say this!
IS Fedor overrated who has wins against

Ricardo Arona
Tsuyoshi Kohsaka
Renato Sobral
Semmy Schilt
Heath Herring
Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira twice
Kazuyuki Fujita
Gary Goodridge
Mark Coleman twice
Kevin Randleman
Mirko Filipovi?
Mark Hunt
Matt Lindland
Tim Sylvia
Andrei Arlovski

NOW THIS IS A BLASPHEMY AND A SHAME NO KIDDING,I DO NOT BELIEVE A TRUE FAN OF MMA CAN MEAN THESE THINGS FOR FEDOR !
BROCK IS UNTESTED AND GETS ALL THE CREDIT ONLY BECAUSE HE IS IN UFC AND AN AMERICAN ADMIT IT;)
GOD BLESS US ALL!
Pitbull i agree none of these people care about us, lmao
Thumbs up man lol

admin answers:

I’m not a big MMA fan and I didn’t even know who Fedor was until you told me about him but I have watched a few of his fights and can see that he is a great fighter.

If he was in UFC he would get a lot more recognition from so called MMA fans who only follow UFC.

The rise of the Golden Boy, the story of Brock Lesnar

Who would win? MMA vs STREET FIGHTER?

Okay i’m from chicago and kids up here think that they are badass because well they win fights. Although you see i don’t call what they do fighting because all they do is swing wildly and then grab and try to wrestle. So i’m a small kid or whatever, so they think i’m weak but i’m a MMA FIGHTER. So who do you think could truly win based on skills? My all around masters of martial arts/boxing/kicks..or their girly swinging and wrestling?

admin answers:

You say you’re an MMA fighter and you make it sound like you’re really awesome.
Well, HOW good are you with your MMA skills? Have you done any competitions? Tournaments? What are your credentials?

Definitely you in a fight, if you’re as good as you say you are.
But if you go around telling yourself good when you have no fighting experience you might be up for a rude awakening. Or is that crude? Anyway, the point is that you might not know how to fight and may end up getting a haymaker in your face.

And you also make it seem like you’re more of a kick boxer than an MMA fighter. Nowhere do i see that you can wrestle them and take them down and grapple on the ground. You don’t even need to go down, just throw or take’em down and keep standing.
Do you do MMA, like the UFC kind? Doesn’t seem like it.
Maybe you do an McDojo version, or you’re a kickboxer who thinks you’re doing MMA.

Any tips on fighting?

Got my first fight tonight. Not like an MMA cage match thing, a street fight. I don’t think this kid is that tough but still I haven’t been in a fight before.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Here is the best tip ever that I give to anyone who ask same question.

“IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIGHT, then YOU MUST AVOID IT.

Because for sure, having some scratch, bruise or injuries is a kind of business that will not going to give you some beneficial results in return.

Ken asks…

Children in MMA who can argue?

For those not up on their acronyms MMA is mixed martial arts and it’s just that. You combine boxing, judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling just to name a few into one proficient style. Children are allowed to compete in all the sport/styles seperately so there should be a problem with them training them all together. I know many people get caught up in the theatrics of fighting in a cage but its alot more than that. Also lets not forget what MARTIAL arts is. Its the art of combat; I spent several years in Japan and those kids in the dojo’s don’t play around, they train hard and COMPETE just the same. So lets not confuse their true martial arts training with “our” watered down version in the states. To say that the kids aren’t learning any values is a petty stereotype. If you are a TRUE practicioner of any martial art you know that no matter how many belts someone has or how good they perform kata’s it all comes down to what you can do in “Kumite” who can argue with that?

admin answers:

I think its very difficult to argue with that. I do have to say that there is more to martial arts than “kumite” yet in still martial arts in essence is for combat. I don’t see anything wrong with children learning a martial arts blend no matter what it is. I think if people would be more open minded and not get intimidated by a sport like MMA or the “cage” that is synonomous with it, they would be alot better off. If I want my younger brothers and sister to learn how to defend themselves thats the first place I will send them. Not some “karate day care” thats going to suck up $80 a month for life. As for the values, morales, and responsibility they learn that at home where they are suppose to!!

Your Questions About Kids Mma

Mark asks…

Which form of ‘martial art’ is best for kids to start out with? Ages 5 and 9?

It seems as if Karate or Tae Kwan Do are the most easily accessible in my area, but when watching MMA competitions, Jiu Jitsu would be more practical in the future. Any expert opinion would be appreciated.

admin answers:

Karate. They have more established clubs. I got ripped off as a kid with Tae Kwon Do…but that is just my own experience. My mom was really mad.

But the forms in Tae Kwon Do taught me how to dance believe it or not. I liked this girl when I was 14 and kung fu dancing came on so I started doing my forms to impress her. That later evolved into break dancing funny enough. So money well spent.

Richard asks…

Could MMA Turn Boxing Into A Niche Sport?

I am a big fan of both but it is starting to look like mma may soon take the place of boxing and relagate boxing to a niche sport. I was wondering what other people felt about this and if they think that boxing can win back its popularity and take back its place of prominence in the sporting world.

The reason as to why I think that mma could take over is that with its rise in popularity it would draw a lot of young guys that would normally go into boxing now into mma. If this was the case it would reduce the talent pool boxing would have to draw apon and increase the number of top caliber fighters in mma.

Why I give that reason is because kids want to like that big name in the sport and mma is becoming full of them and boxing has a small number of them, so young fighters would rather be a Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, or Wanderlei Silva and not a Wladimir Klitschko (lets face it its the heavy weight division that draws the fans).
I was just going over the question and what I meant was that the heavy weight division sells boxing not mma, sorry about that.

admin answers:

MMA is and always will be a niche sport. To begin with, it doesn’t have the “credibility” of being called a sport yet. Boxing, though faltering in popularity, is still an olympic sport, it still has amateur ranks, etc etc.

MMA is gaining popularity, but boxing, the sweet science, has been around for 100+ years. It’s not going away that easily

Would you like to see real MMA fighters in WWE style matches?

I grew up on Pro Wrestling, I can’t stand it now, but I would LOVE to see real fighters in WWE style matches. What matches you would like to see? ( cage match, street fight, handicapped match ) , and which MMA fighters you would like to see in these matches. This is for FUN….My kid will be looking at your answers…So If you are a nutcase or you don’t like the question…GO AWAY and don’t answer!!! Thanks

admin answers:

I grew up on pro wrestling too, and only started getting into MMA recently, but I think I like MMA the way it is. Wrestling has gotten to the point where I can predict just about everything that’s going to happen, and it’s sort of bogged down with gimmick matches that don’t really hold my interest anymore. I like that MMA is just about fighting, and not concerned with all the wrestling-type gimmicks. They are both enjoyable in their own way, but I don’t think I would enjoy a combination of the two.

Krav Maga For Teens And Kids?

In drav maga do they teach krav maga to kids and teens like the adults and what is the best REAL self defense for 11 and a 14 year old not like a fake thing like taekwondo or cheap karate or any thing like that.. is mma good to?

admin answers:

Most schools that I have seen offering KM to kids are fake schools. They have a belt system and charge to much for it. It is a joke at the majority of them.

Also, you are misconcieved about Karate. A good karate dojo is neither cheap nor ineffective…anyone who says different is trying to sell you something or they never stuck with it long enough to get good at it like the real Karate people have.

MMA is a sport. It is a great fitness program, good training but it is not a martial art and the main focus is on winning competitive events…not street self defense.

KM is also not a martial art but a self defense concept. I have been training at KM seminars for many years now and although I enjoy the concepts and training it is nothing new. I learned all the same things in my cheap karate classes over the last 31 years not to mention Judo and Aikijutsu. KM is just another training fad and most schools charge way to much for it. It is also important to note that many of the concepts they teach can actually put you in jail if you use them in wrong manner…regardless if you were defending yourself or not.

is to use it and not run away if i keep running away why am i training for?
anyways now 2 months passed and im still scared to go out at nights cause he hangs with his friends where i hang with my friends and im scared to shit that he’ll beat me up even though i think i can take him its ruining me i’m scared to go out and have fun because of this i gotta get over my fear of fighting

some background on me:
i’m very strong i train at the gym for almost 2 years now and 1 year of MMA
im really fast and i dont mind being dirty hitting the balls and breaking his nose
but im scared to shit i gotta get out of this fear of fighting not just because of him wanting to beat me up but because i wanna go out again!
now my question how can i stop being scared? is the only way to get over it is to face my fears?

admin answers:

Even if you lose. Who cares? He is older and much larger. Ive done juijitsu since I was 8. I can beat all my friends when we wrestle. Ive also been boxing since I was 10. No clearly im extreamly skilled. But I cannot to save my life beat up my friends brother. I was scarred but then I said alright whatever lets do this. Now hes 5’5′ 180 pounds and 15 years old. Im literley the exact same as you but a year younger. He can kick my ass without even trying. But does that say much? He is three grades ahead of me, 2 years older, and 45 pounds heavier. Now I understand my old situation was smaller than yours. But were not like enemys or friends. He is my friends brother. But hey my Friends brother who is 19 and is 6’1′ not sure about weight. I can out wrestle him anytime.

I think both have the same sense of submission. If your brother wears black, he has a good stance. Both have poor striking ability and always end up going down the ground and pound game.

Ken asks…

Why do people say street fighters are better than MMA fighters? And what EXACTLY is a street fighter?

The argument is that the street fighter can fight dirty while MMA fighters can only fight with rules and a referee. Are MMA fighters incapable of kicking your balls? Do they not know what a weapon is? Are they programmed to not fight dirty? I don’t think so. Granted a “street fighter” would know more about this type of combat but when was the last time you’ve seen one. I’ve never seen or heard of a street fighter. Are they just your average criminal? are they the dumb high school kid who gets in a fight every day?

admin answers:

I personally think that good MMA fighters such as those in the UFC would be able to take on pretty much any street fighter. The theory is that street fighters have the kind of savvy and instincts that you don’t see inside the cage and they know how to fight dirty but I think that the MMA guys who train to fight every day are more dangerous because they know how to hurt every part of your body and they are incredibly fit.

If a street fighter caught an MMA guy by surprise he could take him because without any sort of gloves on one good punch can end it, I also think that a street fighter could win against a low level MMA guy (not UFC) or a guy who thinks he’s tough simply because he wants to be an MMA guy but comparing street fighters to real MMA fighters is like comparing Street Ballers to NBA players. It might look like the street ballers have better dribbling skills and can jump higher but we all know they aren’t really as good.

Lisa asks…

This kid wants to fight me…?

ive never been in a real fight before, but im bigger then most kids my age including the kid who wants to fight. we both wrestle and everyone says he gets really mad when he fights and goes crazy which is why hes fighting, even though hes only been in one fight before. i do MMA shit messing around with my friends and i always beat them, but i need some tips on what to do like how to fight. could i use the fact that he goes crazy as an advantage? heeeeellllpppppp

admin answers:

If you are bigger than most kids, this mean that some of them are jealous and they want to try you. You must be patience, the moment you touch one of this kids someone is going to cry foul and you will bw in hot waters, just act like a men and walk away from trouble. Is better to be safe than sorry.

Your Questions About Kids Mma Fighting

Ken asks…

In what kid yamamoto fight did he continue to beat up his opponent after the referee had stopped it? (mma)?

“Kid Yamamoto continuing to pound a guy’s face after the referee had already stopped the match. The referee then jumped on Yamamoto to pull him off but was overpowered when Yamamoto threw him off. He proceeded to continue punching his opponent who had already been passed out. People then stormed into the ring to grab Yamamoto and drag him off. It remains the craziest thing that I have seen in MMA in the last 10 years”

this is the description, so it’s definitely more than that soccer kick incident

admin answers:

Perhaps you mean his fight against Rani Yahya. Kid got the win, but got a yellow card afterward because he didn’t stop immediately at the ref’s command. It was at a K-1 Dynamite on 12/31/2007.

Chris asks…

How to keep happy and not depressed?

Recently people at my school have been mean to me and stuff, they say to go kill myself, i doubt i ever would. I live an active lifestyle, but recently since these kids have been verbally attacking me i’ve been too lazy to go and do my MMA and other physical activites. I know i could just fight one of them, but there’s 9 if i attack one, i’ll be fighting 8 others. How do i keep myself from depression ? :(

admin answers:

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Best thing to do is notify a teacher or another working adult at your school. Listen to music or continue staying active to keep your mind occupied. And if it helps any, you could always message me if you ever need anyone to talk to. :)

Donald asks…

Dream meaning: fighting?

I love MMA and i teach Jiu Jitsu to kids

anyways i always have dreams of getting into fights with people i dont really talk to but i know, and they always kick my ass cuz i freeze up and cant punch except half speed

anyone know anything any symbolism?
By the way im not an insecure person, so i don’t really ever seek others approval unless its like my friends or something ya know thats how everyone is to a small degree

admin answers:

This is just common anxiety associated with your daily activities. Nothing unusual. Day to day stresses give all of us anxiety to some degree. Try some relaxation techniques along with your fighting and you may alleviate these dreams.

Jenny asks…

Reason for becoming a MMA fighter?

Every fighter has his or her personal reason for becoming a fighter. I want to what motives/drives to them to train and fighter? Is there person their doing it for? (a family member either deceased or alive) Are they fighting to prove a point? For fame and money or for love of the sport?

My reason: All my life I’d had people doubt me, tell me I’d never be good enough at anything. That my dreams were unrealistic, I’ve always resisted being like other people, always been label “different” or “weird”. Never was a small kid I fought a lot in school. Grew up in Oakland,Ca where just “fighting‘ to see the next day is the status quo. Makes sense I’d grow up and decide to become a fighter. I don’t want to just prove everyone else wrong, I want to prove myself wrong for years of believing that I’m not good enough.

Amateur and Pro fighters will have a better chance at the best answer

admin answers:

Since watching UFC its all i thought about, my first fight i watched was Dan Henderson vs Bisbing, since that day all i wanted to do was be a fighter. Not for money or fame but for the fact you become a athlete at the highest level, you can travel and your discipline grows beyond belief. To look at a fighter who is my idol now which is both Nate & Nick Diaz, thats what i want to be. Im smart i went to school but since watching my first UFC fight its all ive talked about. My family think its a stupid idea but at the end of the day everyone has there different reasons. Mine would be because its what i love, and i know if i train hard enough i can!

And thats the same that goes to you..

Steven asks…

Does MMA really work?

Like will a kid who knows MMA be able to beat up a kid who doesn’t? I just read this in the dog section

So I’ve lived in the OC my entire life but last week we just moved to a different part of the same city. Basically, my dad went from a lieutenant to a captain so he’s making a lot more money and we live way closer to the beach.

My next door neighbor is like so cool. He’s only 10 but acts way older plus when I used to play Pop Warner last year he dominated the younger divisions. He runs a 4.7 40 yard Dash. I run a 5.2 and I’m not considered slow and I’m on the Freshman team. But he’s half black so that’s like cheating lol even though he swears he gets it from his dad who is white. He said his dad ran a 4.3 in college.

Anyway. He has a Boxer boy, I have a Rott boy. Whenever he comes in his backyard, my rott goes crazy and starts barking. Today, he looked over the fence and said “You need to calm down” to my dog. He then spotted me and continued “Aye, you need to calm your dog down man, you guys just moved over here he can’t be starting beef like that all early.” I just said “My bad.” And he says “unless you want to start having all your meals threw a straw.” And I say “haha what?” And he just says “You heard me.” and he goes back inside.

How do I calm my dog down? Get him to stop barking? I’m not scared of the kid himself but I know he has friends my age and older that goes to my school. I also know he likes to mess around that’s what I think he’s doing. But still, it would annoy me too if every time I went in my backyard a dog started barking. So How do I handle that? Thanks.

Dude I play football but I’ve been in like 3 fights and lost them all. Plus I know when he was 9 he beat up a 12 year old who knew MMA because the 12 year old threw a ball at his little cousin. They said he just hopped off his bike asked “This kid right here?” Then laid him out. He’s freaking crazy.

admin answers:

Fighting someone with no training? Then the MMA fighter can win. But if they have weapons then you have a good chance of getting killed. It depends on your training.

They call it MMA because its a mix of stand up fighting(Boxing) and ground fighting (Wrestling) not because they take different systems. Most MMA fighters don’t even learn a Martial Art System.

Chris asks…

Batista talked about why he left WWE, and what his future plans are with it?

Something I read a few days ago, Batista left WWE because of it direction towards kids today, stating Batista is not kid-friendly. Despite his interest in Strikeforce/MMA, Batista also said that in the future sometime, he wants to return to the WWE, have a brief run, and a retirement match, and he considers working with the WWE afterwards, just not as a wrestler anymore.

Thoughts?

admin answers:

Well he’s over 40 and gets hurt a lot, brief run would be right.

Every former wrestler would like a job in WWE when they finished in the ring; power bombs get you no where in an office setting. I don’t know what he’d be good at though, conditioning?

Your Questions About Kids Mma

Sandra asks…

Given this recession and MMA schools, how are my fellow traditional arts students and school owners surviving?

In order to better serve our students (and prevent raising prices to the point of ridiculousness), my teacher is giving serious thought to giving up the space he’s had for 23 years and teaching out of the YMCA or a local gym. The landlord has been a real jackass, jacking up his rent about 40% in the last two years, and being really slow to fix basic things like water and heat. This is a temporary thing since my teacher eventually wants to build his own place, but we shall see with this economy.

The reason I ask this is because even in this horrible economy, I am seeing A LOT of MMA schools popping up in our little city of 15,000. I have been in the local martial arts scene for almost 10 years now, and I can tell you NONE of these people are qualified to teach. One guy is a 400 pound guy who dropped out of our school at green belt. Another is a guy that closed down other schools of his previously due to bad business practices. Today, I saw a grand opening for a new MMA place “We take students as young as 3!”

But even with these sketchy people about, and the fact that we probably have the most experience, the best price, and best (customer satisfaction? for lack of a better term) in town, our young students have been leaving in droves to join MMA, thus adding to the difficulty to pay rent. Other than wade it out, I wonder if there’s anything we can do.

At this point I am not so much worried about new students as retaining the dedicated ones. Are you guys experiencing similar problems? Are you running “specials” or price breaks for current students? Do you even try to dissuade parents who think their kids will actually get an MMA education at these McDojos?

admin answers:

It’s a hard situation for everyone. But it’s the reality of the market. MMA is popular, cool, and the sport of the moment. I personally haven’t had this problem — but I fear it. We don’t have any MMA gyms yet (knock on wood!) in my town.

If your students are interested, you may consider sacrificing a bit of their traditional lesson time for covering skills found in other martial arts. An “MMA Day,” if you will. If your school doesn’t have teachers with the proper experience maybe you can work out a deal with another traditional instructor whose art complements yours. If your style is mostly hard striking, find something with grappling, throws or re-direction of an opponents energy. Ask them to visit your school occasionally (maybe monthly?) and you’ll do the same for them in return.

I do this for my students so they get a more well-rounded knowledge of martial arts. 95% of the time our focus is taekwondo, but they also learn some skills found in hapkido and judo. Just basics like falling, a few throws, sweeps, grappling, etc. They really appreciate the balance, and mixing things up keeps their brains working ;)

But remember, a major asset of traditional schools that I’ve never seen or heard of in an MMA gym is the feeling of respect and having a martial arts family. I hope your students return when they find they miss that the most.

Susan asks…

Why Do Most KIDS DON’T Like to EAT VEGGIES?

I’M 16. I USED TO DO MMA. MIX MARTIAL ARTS.
i love eating veggies. sometimes junk food.
OK. kids rather eat candy for dinner than REAL FOOD. WHY?!
I LOVE EATING A BIG MEAL AND EATING HEALTHY.
SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THEY DO THIS.
THANK YOU.

admin answers:

Whether or not something is healthy doesnt matter… I believe its the parents fault that the kids dont like the vegetables. The reason is that most parents “make” children eat things… And that in turn causes kids to have negative thoughts about the food they are being forced to eat.
When i was little my mom used to try to make me eat zucchini, and i always hated it… As soon as i grew older and she wasnt yelling at me about it, i tried it and loved it. My husband had the same problem, his dad used to make him eat tomatoes… And till this day, he wont give them a chance.

Think about anything you didnt like, that your parents made you do, and you will realize that the fact that they would try to enforce things upon you only made those things worse in your eyes.

Plus, if kids dont like things one way, you can cook it for them another way, so that they can give it another chance.

My kids didnt like broccolli, until i cooked it with butter and a little bit of garlic salt and pepper. Then they loved it, and now they will eat it raw, or with ranch dressing. You gotta figure out what they like, and if maybe, you are doing something wrong.

I also realized that if i say i dont like something, my kids will also say they dont like it.

Laura asks…

Could MMA Take Over Boxings Place In Sports?

I am a big fan of both but it is starting to look like mma may soon take the place of boxing and relagate boxing to a niche sport. I was wondering what other people felt about this and if they think that boxing can win back its popularity and take back its place of prominence in the sporting world.

The reason as to why I think that mma could take over is that with its rise in popularity it would draw a lot of young guys that would normally go into boxing now into mma. If this was the case it would reduce the talent pool boxing would have to draw apon and increase the number of top caliber fighters in mma.

Why I give that reason is because kids want to like that big name in the sport and mma is becoming full of them and boxing has a small number of them, so young fighters would rather be a Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, or Wanderlei Silva and not a Wladimir Klitschko (lets face it its the heavy weight division that draws the fans).
just to clarify I meant that the heavy weight division sells boxing not mma

admin answers:

I do not think MMA will ever take the place of boxing. Boxing has too much history though it is now facing one of the worst periods for the sport.

MMA is pulling fans away from boxing, but also from WWE, and even American Football. MMA needs to be careful not to appear to have a strategy of “taking over boxing”. That would be a disaster as boxing still has the power.

It is more likely that boxing sees the MMA bringing in more fans for them at a time when they have very little to offer aside from Pacman and a few lighter weight fighters. Dana White knows this which is one reason you will never hear him say anything bad about the sport of boxing. He knows the governing bodies could stop issuing licenses for MMA fights and none of us wants that to happen.

IMO, there is room for both in the sports market.

Mark asks…

what do you think of kids wearing affliction/tapout?

me and my little brother do mma. he likes wearing tapout and affliction. what do others think

admin answers:

I think that people who purchase this type of clothing just because it is associated with MMA are complete fools since they have clearly fell in to the marketing trap…but then again we all buy stupid things because we think we need it based on some dumb ad huh.

On another note most kids wearing this type of clothing have no training and doing so to make themselves look tough. Clothing doesn’t mean you are anything but wearing it. I just laugh at the punks wearing it thinking they are tough when in fact they just make themselves look like punks to educated and trained fighters who know the truth.

Robert asks…

is MMA making its practictioners way too cocky?

This kid who does MMA in my school thinks hes the shit cuz he does MMA. hes like im going to fuck you up and all of this and wants to beat whoever that gets in his way.

then another kid in my school writes on his facebook status saying that hes going to beat this kid bad and saying im going to do MMA on his ass.

ususally peopple that take taekwondo, karate or any asian martial arts dont display their strength or so damn eager to fight someone just for the hell of it.
has mma done this?

admin answers:

No, and you cant always blame the teachers.

Il be perfectly honest…. Ive done a class with a Karate instuctor once who was an asshole, and it showed in his students. Big egos, pushing new guys too hard. Whereas i entered a Kyokushin gym (renound for its punishment) and felt more welcome there than anywhere else.

The MMA gym i attended for a few months (Total Dojo in Milton Keynes) it was welcoming, hardly any egos and a friendly atmosphere.

I think alot of the stigma comes from everyone watching UFC and thinking they are ‘bad ass’ because they think they are the next GSP, Fedor, Coutore etc. In all honesty… In my personal experience of martial arts and defense, MMA fighters in a street fight would get their ass handed to them more than they care to admit. I know they worship their ground game and take downs… But lets face it…. Your not on a comfy mat rolling about… If you get someones back on the street and your rolling around on the base of your spine… It hurts!

I dont think you should feel that MMA fighters have ego problems just cause of one kid.

Just cause a nail bends when you hammer it, do you throw away the rest of the box just cause one is faulty?

traditional martial arts, are they loosing thier touch?

now for all you traditonal martial artists, i dont speak for all but most of you, who do karate or taekwondo or aikido ect
dont you think your art is loosing its touch with mma being around, as now there is a new dimension to fighting which taking ur opponent to the ground
and for all the people who say well ill kick him by the time he gets me in a clinch is totaly wrong

ask ur instructor what he thinks of ground fighting
my instructor teaches karate to kids but he admits the techniques are useless in a fight
he said in a mma fight there stuffed, and he also said to me muay thai is the best stand up hands down

so are people realising times are changing
my kung fu instructor who teaches shuai jiao says that a kung fu guy vs shuai jiao
shuai jiao would win hands down as it is a grapaling art

thanks

TMA is losing because of the Mc Dojos out there. TMA is great if you find a non-Mc Dojo. MMA will have Mc Dojos.

Exciting Careers in Fighting?

Forgive me if i sound like a little kid… I want to protect people, and love many types of martial arts. (I’m not big on guns, but i’m sort of a weapons collector.) I already know about MMA, wrestling, cage fighting, different branches of the military (although i’d be interested to hear a little more detail about it if it applies to what i’m talking about). Basically, I’m looking for a career type with lots of action/variety. I love pushing myself to become stronger and faster. I guess i’m just looking for a career that has a lot of purpose and meaning. Doesn’t have to be the highest paying, just enough to support a small family, and have some potential to increase when i get better at it.

Thanks very much!
